Climate of Indore, Madhya Pradesh

 
climate of IndoreDue to its location in Central India (approx.76o E, 23o N) , far from the sea, Indore has a moderately extreme climate.

Winter: In winter(November to February), the night low is around 10oC.At the peak of winter, it can be as low as low as 2 to 3oC. The record low is +1.5oC.

Summer: During summer (April-June) the days are hot (35-40oC) with the peak summer (May) day temperature sometimes touching 45c. However , unlike other places in central India, the summer nights in Indore are something special. Due to its location on the southern edge of the Malwa Plateau, however hot it may be during the day, in the late evening, cool breeze starts which makes the evenings quite pleasant, referred to as Shab-e-Malwa.

Rainfall: Indore gets moderate rainfall of 30-35 inches (~80cms) during July-September due to S. W. Monsoon.

Indore can be visited throughout the year because of its pleasant climate. The same goes for Tourist Places near Indore.

PLACES AROUND INDORE

Kasturbagram , 8 km from Indore, houses the Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust, which was founded by Mahatma Gandhi. This trust has dedicated itself to rural development and its activities are on the principles laid down by Mahatma Gandhi.

Omkareshwar , known for its Shiva temple of Shri Omkar Mandhata, is located on an island at the confluence of Narmada and Kaveri rivers. The island is connected with the mainland with a high footbridge. There are number of other temples on this island. It takes about 3 hours from Indore to reach here by bus.

The town of Maheshwar is famous for its fort and temples and the saris produced by the local weavers. These intricately patterned silk saris of Maheshwar are called Maheshwari. Travelers having a taste for traditional Indian handicraft can buy saris from local shops. It takes about 4 hours from Indore to reach here by bus.

Mandu is a town famous for its medieval buildings, which include palaces, tombs, temples and a fort. It takes about 3½ hours from Indore to reach here by bus.
